Rider Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to all delivery riders registered on the SwiftCart platform as independent service providers, covering conduct, earnings, payouts, and your obligations to customers and the SwiftCart community.

Effective: May 16, 2026 Last Updated: May 16, 2026 Applies to: Registered Riders
📎 Supplementary: These Rider Terms are in addition to — and must be read alongside — the SwiftCart General Terms of Service. In case of conflict, the General Terms prevail.

1. Rider Status

Riders on SwiftCart are independent service providers, not employees of SwiftCart. SwiftCart provides a technology platform that connects riders with delivery opportunities. Riders are not entitled to employment benefits, minimum wage guarantees, or employment protections under Nigerian labour law as a result of their use of the SwiftCart platform.

You are an independent business — you choose when to work, which orders to accept, and how to manage your time. SwiftCart is the platform, not your employer.

2. Rider Verification Requirements

Before activation, all riders must complete the following verification:

  • Valid Nigerian phone number (OTP verified via Termii)
  • Government-issued photo ID (National ID Card, Driver's License, or International Passport)
  • National Identity Number (NIN) — verified via NIMC
  • Clear facial photograph (selfie)
  • Motorcycle registration document
  • Vehicle plate number
  • Next-of-kin name and phone number
  • Guarantor form (completed and signed)
  • Bank account details (for earnings payouts via Paystack)
  • Physical onboarding appointment (at SwiftCart office or designated point)
Riders who provide false or altered documents will be permanently banned and may be reported to law enforcement.

3. Conduct Requirements

Riders must at all times:

  • Behave professionally and respectfully toward customers and vendors
  • Wear identifying SwiftCart ID badge during deliveries (when issued)
  • Only pick up orders assigned through the SwiftCart platform
  • Deliver orders promptly and to the correct address
  • Handle customer packages with care
  • Not open, tamper with, or consume any portion of an order
  • Not enter or solicit entry into a customer's home under any circumstances
  • Not share customer personal information with third parties
  • Maintain a roadworthy vehicle in good condition

4. Earnings and Payouts

4.1 Delivery Earnings

Riders earn a per-delivery fee as displayed in the app at the time of order acceptance. Earnings may vary based on distance, order type, and demand.

4.2 Available Earnings

Your Available Earnings balance is a record of completed delivery fees pending disbursement. It is NOT a bank account, wallet, or stored-value account.

4.3 Payout Schedule

Earnings are paid out on a regular schedule (as published in your rider app) to your registered bank account via Paystack, subject to a minimum payout threshold.

4.4 Payout Deductions

SwiftCart may deduct from your earnings for:

  • Customer-verified damage or theft claims
  • Fraudulent delivery claims
  • Fake delivery completions
  • Policy violation penalties

4.5 Disputed Deductions

Deductions may be disputed by contacting support@swiftcartapp.co within 7 days of the deduction notice.

5. Delivery Fraud and Misconduct

The following constitute serious violations resulting in immediate suspension and potential criminal referral:

5.1 Fake Delivery Completion

Marking an order as delivered without completing the delivery. This is a fraudulent act. Evidence reviewed includes GPS data, delivery timestamps, and customer confirmation.

5.2 Theft

Stealing customer orders, taking partial contents of an order, or stealing from vendors. Any verified theft report results in permanent ban and criminal referral.

5.3 Order Abandonment

Accepting an order and abandoning it without legitimate reason or notification. Repeated abandonment results in account suspension.

5.4 Extortion

Demanding additional payment from customers beyond the stated fee. Results in immediate permanent suspension.

5.5 Off-Platform Solicitation

Soliciting customers or vendors for private delivery jobs discovered through SwiftCart.

  • First offense: Formal warning
  • Second offense: Permanent suspension

5.6 Vehicle Misrepresentation

Using a different vehicle or allowing another person to complete deliveries under your account. Results in immediate suspension.

6. Customer Safety

Riders must:

  • Never record, photograph, or surveil customers or their homes beyond what is necessary to confirm delivery
  • Never follow up with customers outside of the delivery context
  • Never share customer contact information or addresses
  • Report any suspicious activity (e.g., orders to unlit or dangerous locations) to support before proceeding
Harassment or intimidation of customers results in immediate permanent suspension — no warnings.

7. Incidents and Accidents

In the event of a road accident or incident during a delivery:

  • Riders must notify SwiftCart support immediately
  • Orders affected by an accident will be managed by SwiftCart support
  • SwiftCart does not provide accident or health insurance for riders
  • Riders are responsible for their own insurance coverage

SwiftCart strongly recommends that all riders maintain valid third-party liability insurance for their motorcycle.

8. Liability

Riders are personally liable for:

  • Damage or loss of customer orders due to negligence or misconduct
  • Traffic violations and road accidents
  • Tax obligations on earnings received through SwiftCart
  • Any harm caused to third parties during delivery operations

SwiftCart does not accept liability for rider conduct outside of the app-facilitated order context.

9. Suspension and Termination

Riders may be suspended or terminated for:

  • Verified theft, fraud, or misconduct
  • Low completion rate or sustained low ratings below threshold
  • Failed re-verification
  • Violence or threats toward customers, vendors, or SwiftCart staff
  • Providing false information during onboarding

Upon termination, a final earnings payout will be processed after a 14-day review period, subject to outstanding deductions.

10. Guarantor Obligation

The guarantor co-signing your rider application accepts responsibility for verifying your identity and good character. In cases of verified theft or serious misconduct, SwiftCart reserves the right to contact the guarantor.

You are responsible for ensuring your guarantor understands and accepts this obligation before signing. Providing false guarantor information is grounds for immediate ban and potential legal action.

11. Changes to Rider Terms

SwiftCart may update these terms with 7 days' notice via app notification or SMS. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
